What is extrahand.com.au?
Extrahand.com.au is an online directory for services that don’t necessarily require qualifications. Most of our service providers are people who can’t work on a permanent full-time basis but still want to earn an income. These service providers include, but are not limited to, university students, stay-at-home mums, retirees, and backpackers. The services provided include, but are not limited to, tutoring, babysitting, cleaning, dog-walking, and waitering. The general public can then search for these services for free using our search engine and request a quote from up to five service providers- all in a matter of clicks.

Is it free to find service providers?
It is free to search for service providers. However, if you own a business and are looking for several employees then extrahand.com.au can post your ad to our subscribed members for a fee. Please contact info@extrhand.com for more information.

How does this site work?
The general public can search the directory for free, just follow these steps:
Step 1: From our search engine on the homepage either type in a keyword or select a service from our drop-down menu. To search for service providers in your local area, enter your postcode and, if you like, you can choose the hourly rate that you want to pay. Then click on 'search our database'.
Step 2: Your search will list every service provider that matches your enquiry.

Can I contact more than five people for their services?
You sure can. The reason we limit the number of people you can contact at one time is so that you request the top five people that offer the service you require. We also don't want our service providers to be bombarded with emails- we want to ensure that the enquiries remain as genuine as possible. Having said this, there is nothing stopping you from performing the seach again and again.

What do I do if the service I want is not listed?
At extrahand.com.au we want to please everyone. Please let us know at info@extrahand.com.au if a service you want is not listed and we will consider forwarding your inquiry to service providers in your area for free.

I would like to contact all your subscribed members. Can I do this?
You sure can. If you're a business and you require some casual staff then we will be happy to forward your enquiry onto our subscribed members for a fee. Please contact info@extrahand.com.au for more information.

What do I do if no one replies to my enquiry?
It's unfortunate but it can happen. If no one replies to your enquiry then we suggest that you perform another search and contact other service providers.

How much do I pay service providers?
Service providers set their hourly rate and this is generally posted with their information. If you want to negotiate the hourly rate then it is up to you to discuss this with the service provider. It is important that you understand what you have to pay before the service is provided to you.

How will I know that service providers offer what I need?
Each service provider posts information about themselves that can be viewed once you have performed the search. Service providers are asked to be as specific as they can but if you require more information then send them an enquiry- it's totally free.

Why does extrahand.com.au ask for some personal details?
We require your name, telephone number, and email address in case we need to get into contact with you. We do not use your information for any other purpose. You can choose to receive email updates from extrahand.com.au if you like and you have the opportunity to unsubscribe at any time.

Is this site an agency?
We are not an agency. Extrahand.com.au is simply a directory- similar to the Yellow Pages.

Why can't I seach for babysitters/nannies in South Australia?
In South Australia, we are considered a babysitting agency. Because we can't meet the requirements of an agency we are unable, by law, to advertise babysitters/nannies on our website for South Australia.

Who checks the credentials of each service provider?
We trust that our service providers include information about themselves that is up-to-date and valid. It is your responsibility to check that service providers have evidence that supports their credentials. Extrahand.com.au does not check service providers credentials, however, if you find that a service provider has given misleading information please contact us on support@extrahand.com.au.

What do I do if I don't like the service provider?
If the service provider doesn't meet your requirements then inform the service provider that you no longer require their services. Because there is no minimum hours that you must hire someone, you can stop the services at any time. If the service provider has acted in an inappropriate manner please contact us at support@extrahand.com.au but we will not actively resolve any issues that arise between you and the service provider.

How do I know that my details are kept safe?
Extrahand.com.au is the only business that holds and knows your information. Our website is secure and we promise to do everything in our power to keep your information safe.

How do I become a subscribed member?
On our homepage there is a link for you to click that will take you to the registration page. Alternatively, you can click on 'sign-up' located at the top of each page.

Fantastic! Please contact us on offers@extrahand.com.au so that we can give you more information. If you have received a special offer, please don't sign-up until we have received your details otherwise, we may not be able to implement the offer.

How much does it cost to subscribe?
We offer three types of subscription as follows:
Three months: $39
Six months: $69
Twelve months: $99

Do I get any rewards for resubscribing?
If you currently have a twelve month subscription, upon resubscribing you will receive an extra three months on any subscription type.

Can I receive benefits for referring friends to the site?
You sure can. If you are interested in receiving benefits then contact us on offers@extrahand.com.au to receive more information. Basically, you will receive an extra three months for every ten friends that become subscribed members.

What do I do if the service I can provide is not listed?
Please contact us on support@extrahand.com.au so that we can add it for you. Please note that there are some restrictions so not every service can be listed.

Can I receive other employment opportunities through extrahand.com.au?
We encourage all our members to sign-up for extra employment opportunities. Basically, whenever we receive job advertisements from businesses we send an email to our members. If you don't want to receive job advertisements that's fine, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Do I need any qualifications?
You don't require any qualifications to advertise your services. However, if you do have qualifications, then we encourage you to state that on your personal information so that you can increase the likelihood that people will contact you for your services.

How do I increase the likelihood that people will contact me for my services?
You really need to sell yourself. On your personal information, make sure you include any qualifications you have. Also, include what you currently do if you are studying or what you have done in the past if you have work experience. Also, make sure you list all the postcodes that you can work in. What do I do if no one has contacted me?
If no one has contacted you it might be a good idea to review your personal details. Think about how you can sell yourself. If you are working in a competitive field then you might like to consider undertaking a course, or gaining some work experience through volunteering. You might like to also consider looking at other service providers in your area and seeing what they offer that you don't.

How do I set my hourly rate?
There are a lot of things to take into consideration when deciding how much you should charge. You might like to increase your rate if you feel that you are more qualified than someone else because you have experience in your area. Or, if you want to be competitive, perhaps you will work at a lower rate so that people choose you simply because you are cheaper. We suggest a minimum of $15 an hour but the final decision is yours.

How flexible can I be with where and when I work?
You can be as flexible as you want to. Make sure you know the postcodes in which you want to work in and list them when you are filling out your details. You also decide when you want to work; just make sure you include your availability in your details.

Are my personal details kept confidential?
All information you give us is kept confidential and is seen only by extrahand.com.au staff. However, since we have to advertise you, we still have to provide some of your details to the general public. The information that will be displayed to the public is: First name, location, qualifications, and the summary you write about yourself. We do not post contact information on the site, however, if you reply to an enquiry then that person will have your email address and/or other contact information that you give them.

Why can't I offer my services as a babysitter/nanny in South Australia?
In South Australia we are considered a babysitting agency. By law, we can't provide advertising for babysitters/nannies in South Australia simply because we are unable to meet the requirements.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of hours I have to work and/or people I can work for?
No. You decide on how much or how little you work.

How do I resubscribe?
We will contact you when your subscription is about to end and ask you if you want to resubscribe. Members who are currently on a 12 month subscription will receive an extra three months when they resubscribe.

How do I terminate my membership?
You can terminate your subscription at any time by contacting support@extrahand.com.au however, no refunds will be given.

How do I know that my private information is kept safe?
We promise that we will do everything in our power to keep your information safe. We do not give your information to any third parties and simply hold your information in case we need to contact you.

When people contact me, where are the emails sent?
Your emails are sent to the email address you provide us. Any correspondence you make once you have received the initial email from a member of public is simply between you and that person; extrahand.com.au does not have access to any emails sent after that intitial email.
